About this specialization
In veterinary medicine, internal medicine focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and long-term care of patients with diseases of the internal organs and systems. In our hospital we deal with a wide range of problems, from diseases of the digestive tract, liver, kidneys and urinary system to hormonal, metabolic, immune and blood disorders. Cardiology and the diagnosis of heart disease are an important part of this too.
With every patient we try to look at their health as a whole – connecting the individual signs with the laboratory and imaging findings so that we can identify the cause of the problem as precisely as possible and set the right treatment.
In chronic disease we also provide regular monitoring and individual adjustment of therapy, to keep the disease under control and preserve the best possible quality of life for the patient. We believe the right diagnosis is the foundation of successful treatment, which is why we use the modern diagnostic methods available and approach every patient individually.

My dog keeps scratching — is it an allergy?
Possibly. Common causes of itching are food allergies, atopic dermatitis, parasites or infections. A dermatological work-up includes skin scrapings, cytology and, if needed, an elimination diet.
What tests do you run for internal diseases?
Blood count, biochemistry, urinalysis, ultrasound, endoscopy, hormone panels. The scope depends on the clinical suspicion — we always proceed with a purpose.
